You will be assigned a roommate based on the personal preferences you indicated on your housing application. However, it is not always possible to assign you a roommate who shares your same class or semester.

Back

Can I choose my new roommate?

Roomate requests must be submitted through the Personal Preferences page in MyHousing between May 1 and July 15, 2008 for the fall 2008 semester. The Department of Residential Life will do their best to honor mutual roommate requests but cannot guarantee that a student will be paired with the individual requester.

Students enrolled in Learning Communities will usually be paired with a roommate in the same community. Roommate questions within the Learning Community should be noted on the Learning Community application at livelearn.uconn.edu.

Back

Can roommate assignments be changed?

UConn recognizes that occasionally residents are matched with roommates with whom they do not feel compatible. If this occurs, you may request a room change through your community/hall director after an initial waiting period at the beginning of each semester. The ability to change a room is dependent upon available vacancies.

Consistent with the University’s commitment to non-discrimination, roommate changes can not be made with regard to race, age, ability, veteran status, color, national origin, religious affiliation or sexual orientation.
